Bred for Performance, Raised to Love

A family-owned Welsh Pony breeding farm located in Central Indiana Qualen’s Gangrels specializes in hand-raising and starting high-quality Welsh and Half-Welsh ponies.

With over 40 years experience riding, training, and showing Hunters and Jumpers, Qualen’s Gangrels’ program is geared toward the production of well-behaved, true to type Hunter ponies.

Our broodmares are all Welsh or Welsh crossbred ponies with highly desirable bloodlines and excellent conformation. They are matched with either our own stallion or outstanding stallions from other farms. Qualen’s Gangrels Farm produces a very small crop of foals each year, which ensures that each youngster receives a great deal of hands-on attention and education. Our mission is to turn out ponies that have a very solid educational foundation which enables them to blossom into dependable and safe children's mounts.

Have fun exploring our website.  Most of our youngsters are available to approved homes.  Please inquire if you are interested in any!

Bill and Sally

We own, operate, maintain, worry about, and love Qualen’s Gangrels Farm. Bill does all of the farm maintenance, and Sal does all of the pony instruction. Needless to say, one or both of us are always home, and we love visitors to the farm.

Additional crew include our son, Quenton and our daughter, Galen - our unpaid web-masters.

The Farm

Qualen’s Gangrels Farm occupies 27 acres in Westfield, Indiana, an agricultural area just north of Indianapolis. Although surrounded by large crop fields, our immediate neighbors include a deer farm, and an elk farm — excellent training experience for the ponies!

Facilities include eight pastures with run-in sheds and automatic waterers, an eight-stall barn with wash rack, small indoor arena, tack room and laundry facilities, and utility barn. In addition there is a small mare-foal pasture and round pen. It’s a pony breeder’s dream farm! Our ponies are mostly on 24-7 turn-out. Stalls are used for night time housing of my TB hunter, our retired broodmare, and any pony who needs to have their forage limited or is being readied for showing. Otherwise we love to have them all out moving and socializing!
